Full Time Press Brake Operator
Job Summary:
This role is a skilled position responsible for setting up and operating press brakes.
Essential Functions:
- Set up and perform brake operations on various styles of brake machinery according to specifications of work orders and fabrication prints/drawings without supervision
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings or fabrication prints as needed for accurate and safe brake operation
- Understand and calculate bend deduction allowances as required to properly and safely set up tooling
- Follow work order directions and safely produce required quantity of parts efficiently and within the required tolerance and cosmetic quality
- Adhere to all company safety regulations, including those regarding machine operation and proper guarding
- Perform inspection to prove required dimensional tolerances and cosmetic requirements are met before submitting to Department Lead or QC for monitoring
- Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment
- Enter time and data entry into company data acquisition system in accordance with company policy
- Perform light level daily maintenance on assigned brake press equipment
- Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area
- Accurately attach, track and process work orders and packing slips for incoming materials and finished products
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal precision press brake operations
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or mechanical drawings involving brake operations
- Knowledge of how to safely set up and run various styles of Brake machinery including AMADA, Bystronic, Safan Darley and Adira brake machinery
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines safely and properly
- Familiarity with shop equipment such as table, panel and chop saws and kick and drill presses
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to arrive promptly for shift and stand and/or walk for duration of shift
- Ability to hear, speak, kneel, bend and use a step ladder or stool
- Capable of lifting 75 pounds
- Capable of working in a manufacturing environment
- Possess own accurate mechanical measuring tools of the craft (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
