Full Time Press Brake Operator

Job Summary:

This role is a skilled position responsible for setting up and operating press brakes.

Essential Functions:

  • Set up and perform brake operations on various styles of brake machinery according to specifications of work orders and fabrication prints/drawings without supervision
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings or fabrication prints as needed for accurate and safe brake operation
  • Understand and calculate bend deduction allowances as required to properly and safely set up tooling
  • Follow work order directions and safely produce required quantity of parts efficiently and within the required tolerance and cosmetic quality
  • Adhere to all company safety regulations, including those regarding machine operation and proper guarding
  • Perform inspection to prove required dimensional tolerances and cosmetic requirements are met before submitting to Department Lead or QC for monitoring
  • Cooperate with other employees in the department to maintain a safe working environment
  • Enter time and data entry into company data acquisition system in accordance with company policy
  • Perform light level daily maintenance on assigned brake press equipment
  • Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area
  • Accurately attach, track and process work orders and packing slips for incoming materials and finished products
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal precision press brake operations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or mechanical drawings involving brake operations
  • Knowledge of how to safely set up and run various styles of Brake machinery including AMADA, Bystronic, Safan Darley and Adira brake machinery
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines safely and properly
  • Familiarity with shop equipment such as table, panel and chop saws and kick and drill presses

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to arrive promptly for shift and stand and/or walk for duration of shift
  • Ability to hear, speak, kneel, bend and use a step ladder or stool
  • Capable of lifting 75 pounds
  • Capable of working in a manufacturing environment
  • Possess own accurate mechanical measuring tools of the craft (calipers, micrometers, etc.)

  • Reviews material travelers to insure that there are no material shortages to complete production runs.
